Archaeological monitoring was undertaken on behalf of RPS Group from September 9 to October 18 2024 in various townlands along part of the Glenree-Moy Network Connection Uprate 110kV Overhead Line works by Eirgrid. Works involved the repair and/or replacement of overhead masts, foundation works, polestay construction works and the provision of some temporary access works. This section of the works project did not involve any works within any zones of archaeological constraints. Works at this phase were confined to angle mast numbers 11, 22, 39, 50, 54, 61, 74, 75 and 76 in the townlands of Rathreedaun, Drumsheen, Gurteens, Corimla South, Ballyholan, Quignaleck and Ardoughan, Co. Mayo. An archaeologist was present on-site throughout the duration of the ground works for development. No archaeological features, deposits or finds were uncovered during the course of the programme of archaeological monitoring.
