The site is within the historic town of Ballinrobe (MA118-022----) but it does not contain any recorded monuments. The nearest such monument is a graveyard (MA118-022007-), which is located directly across the road and associated with a church (MA118-022006-) c. 116m to the north of the site.
In total, 23m of linear trenches were excavated to assess the site. No archaeological structures, features, deposits or artefacts were recorded in the trenches, which were excavated to a depth of between 1.28m and 2.06m. The proposed development site is heavily disturbed and built-up with gravel and rubble overlying a natural of orange silty clay.
