A total of 16 test trenches were excavated. Each trench measured 1.8m in width, and in total, 525m of linear trenches were excavated. A number of trenches were moved or shortened from the original proposed positions, and Trench 4 was not excavated due to overhead powerlines. The topsoil (C1) was a dark brown clayey silt and the natural subsoil was mainly a light orange sand. Modern deposition of construction rubbish was observed in Trenches 6 and 9. No archaeological features or deposits were observed or exposed within Trenches 1–16, therefore, the proposed development will have no impact on archaeological features. No further work is recommended.
