Monitoring of topsoil stripping and groundworks associated with Phase 1 of a development, took place at Ballymakenny Road, Yellowbatter, Greenbatter, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The site was previously subject to a geophysical survey
(20R0070) and test trenching (20E0187), with no features of archaeological significance exposed.
Topsoil stripping associated with the proposed development and all associated groundworks were monitored. Topsoil, measuring up to c.0.4m in depth in the northern portion of the site and up to c. 0.3m in depth in the southern portion, was stripped onto natural subsoil consisting of yellow-brown boulder clay. Broken red brick at the interface between the natural and topsoil was noted. No archaeological features were exposed or identified, and no finds were recovered.
