The site at Timullen & Barabona, Monasterboice, Co. Louth, was archaeologically assessed by test trenching in April 2024 in advance of the construction of an agricultural building. The assessment involved the excavation of two test trenches within the site, each measuring 1.8m in width with a total of 163m of linear trenches excavated. The test trenches were excavated down to the natural subsoil, which comprised a mixture of grey marl and grey-brown stony boulder clay. No archaeological features or deposits were identified within the excavated trenches and no finds were recovered. The work is now complete, and no further mitigation is necessary.
