Archaeological monitoring of forest road development took place.  The section subject to monitoring commenced to west at ITM 566910 639250 and concluded to east at ITM 567042 639261.

The works entailed the topsoil stripping of a 5m-wide road corridor to a depth of 0.15m. This entailed stripping to within the sod and topsoil layer. As a consequence, the basal layer consisted of topsoil. Quarried stone was then set on this level to complete the road surface.

The nature of the ground surface changed from ITM 566932 639255 to 567108 639262, in which a 2.5m to 4m grassed-over stone and earth track was set within or protruding from the topsoil. This surface was mechanically cleaned with a grading bucket and the remaining 1m to 2.5m for the new road was excavated abutting the south side of the track. This southern new strip consisted of the same depth and stratigraphy as the greenfield works section.

The forestry section entailed 5m-wide topsoil stripping to a depth of 0.2m to 0.25m. Residual topsoil surface remained on this section in which a pale grey sandy silt natural subsoil was evident. No surface anomalies that could constitute archaeology was identified.
