Topsoil was removed by machine in 0.1-0.15m layers using a flat bucket. Three layers of material were recorded during monitoring. The topsoil, a dark brown, wet, loose peat with a low density of stone inclusions, ranged in depth from 0.2-0.3m. Subsoil directly below was a grey-white, very compact clay with a low density of stone inclusions. In the western portion of the site redeposited subsoil was present having been dumped there during construction of earlier broiler houses.
Nothing of archaeological importance was noted in the area that was stripped or in the soil removed from the site.
