Archaeological testing was carried in June 2024 at Momentum Logistics Park, Naas, Co. Kildare. Testing revealed two areas of archaeological significance. Topsoil across site consists of a mid-brown clay sand with occasional small stone inclusions. The subsoil is predominantly a soft yellowish-brown sand with occasional pockets of grey sand. Within the west of the site, a slight rise was noted, parallel to the adjacent river. In this location the subsoil changed to a loose grey, silty sand and may be indicative of former water logging.
Two areas of archaeological potential were identified during these works. The first area was located with the southeast of the site and consisted of a single large pit, later cut by a stone-lined field drain, and is filled with a mottled grey/light-brown stoney clay. The second area was located northwest of the first and consisted of the remains of a single pit containing a dark brown organic clay. It exists within an area of possible former waterlogging and might therefore represent the remains of a trough related to a possible fulacht fia. No dating evidence was recovered from any of the features.
