Monitoring followed on from a desktop assessment conducted for the site by IAC archaeology in 2021 (Anderson 2021). No recorded archaeological monuments are known within the permitted development area, or its immediate vicinity. The desktop report noted the presence of former buildings within the northern perimeter of the site on the historic mapping, located off the ‘Boggeen Lane’. It concluded that, while the site had been subject to previous disturbance, there was some potential for remains of earlier settlement activity to survive beneath the current ground surface.
Monitoring of groundworks was undertaken over the course of one day in November 2024. No archaeological remains were uncovered during the course of monitoring.
