Archaeological monitoring of ground disturbance was undertaken in March 2024 at Damastown Industrial Park, Damastown Drive, Dublin 15. Groundworks in this phase of the development involved the excavation of a fire water retention pond measuring c. 100m x 40m. Excavation of the footprint of the proposed fire water retention pond was carried out using a mechanical excavator fitted with flat grading bucket. Excavation across the footprint of the water retention pond revealed a stratigraphic sequence consisting of c. 0.30m–0.45m of mid brown clayey silt topsoil above a light brown silty clay subsoil. Three modern field drains were identified crossing the site; nothing of archaeological significance was found during the course of archaeological monitoring.
