Licensed archaeological testing at the Fieldstown Solar Farm, Co. Dublin (for which planning permission had been granted) was undertaken in September/October 2024. A series of 138 linear test trenches (T1-T90 & T92 -T139), extending for c.3,300m, were opened across the footprint of the development .
Five potential archaeological sites were discovered and recorded during the testing program viz: (1) single shallow pit in T46 in Field 7; (2) burnt mound material (disturbed fulacht fiadh with a trough) in T81 in Field 5; (3) two pits with heat-shattered stones in T117 in Field 14; (4) two pits in trench T133 in Field 11 and (5) a large feature (possible pit) from which two sherds of prehistoric pottery were recovered in T134 in Field 11.
