This archaeological impact assessment was undertaken on lands at Barrysparks, Swords, Co. Dublin. Previous works were undertaken within or near to the subject area: geophysical survey 09R0038 and four previous archaeological test excavations, 10E0028, 10E0028 ext., 20E0526 and 21E0510. This most recent test excavation was undertaken on 24 May 2024.
It was proposed to excavate 5 trenches measuring a total of 290 linear metres. Trenches 1 to 8 were previously excavated in the earlier excavations undertaken within the subject area.
Current Trenches (Trench 9-13) were positioned at locations agreed in advance with the National Monuments Service. Each trench was inspected for archaeological remains and all trenches were reinstated on completion.
Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the course of the works.
