Archaeological monitoring of geotechnical trial-pits and development-related groundworks in the form of topsoil stripping, at Brighton Road, Kerrymount, Foxrock, Co. Dublin, was carried out in April 2024.
Archaeological monitoring of groundworks was part of an approved mitigation strategy required by An Bord Pleanála and stipulated in a condition of the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council grant of planning in respect of a proposed residential development at the site.
Monitoring revealed a number of relatively modern features, including a drain and a modern burnt spread, and findings were consistent with the interpretation of the site as an agricultural field converted in the mid-20th century to a large garden.
No archaeological finds, features or deposits were identified during any of the monitored groundworks across the site.
