Archaeological monitoring was undertaken, on behalf of McGarrell Reilly Group Ltd, at Broomhill Bridge in Barnhill, Ongar, Co Dublin. Works took place between 24 February and 22 March 2024. Barnhill bridge, located immediately to the south-west of the subject area, is recorded in Fingal County Council Record of Protected Structures as RPS No. 0712.
The overburden was removed and topsoil was stripped. Several pits and foundation slots were excavated which revealed made ground and hard core to a depth of 0.55m. This overlay a compact orange clay subsoil.
No features, finds or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during the course of monitoring. No further action is required within this area.
