Archaeological monitoring carried out at Chapel Street, Townparks, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. The development consists of the erection of 2 town houses and connection to public sewer and storm system in accordance with the plans submitted with a planning application. Due to the location of the proposed development within the Zone of Archaeological Potential for RMP No.: DG107-053---- Historic Town, the proposed works were subject to a full programme of monitoring carried out during excavation works.
Monitoring took place in May 2024. No finds or features of archaeological significance were noted during monitoring. The development will have no archaeological impact either physical or visual. It is recommended that no further archaeological mitigation take place and that the development proceeds as planned.
