Mizen Archaeology monitored dredging works associated with the Ballycotton Harbour Dredging Project, Ballycotton, Co. Cork. The works including dredging of a 1.13ha dredge pocket to a depth of -2.5m.
Archaeological monitoring revealed extensive debris associated with the modern maritime industry, including ropes, chains, anchors, and the remains of three vessels. Where a dive survey examined Wreck 1, it was found that modern material was buried under up to 1m of seabed material. All material was identified as modern.
No archaeological material was uncovered.
