Testing was carried out on behalf of Soleire Renewables, relating to a proposed cable route associated with a permitted solar farm development in Ballyroe, c.5km south of Charleville, Co. Cork.
Testing followed an archaeological desktop study, geophysical survey, a further information report and a previous phase of testing for an associated sub-station and cable corridor.
The specific area tested under this licence is adjacent to the northern boundary of the site, where geophysical survey indicated three possible small enclosures. The testing took place over two days from the 18 April 2024 and no features, finds or deposits of archaeological interest were identified.
