A programme of archaeological test-trenching was undertaken at Ballynacrusha, Cobh, Co. Cork. The testing was carried out in relation to a proposed solar farm development.
The site had been previously subject to an Archaeological Impact Assessment, which included a geophysical survey. The test-trench array was informed by the geophysical survey and comprised the excavation of 16 trenches over the footprint of the proposed site.
Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered. A series of relict field boundaries, a modern rubbish pit and two shallow agricultural linear features were noted within the proposed area of development.
