Nineteen linear test trenches with a combined length of 830m were excavated across a proposed development site. Much of the site had been considerably disturbed as part of an earlier, unfinished residential development and the trenches were located in the areas of lesser disturbance.
Natural subsoil was identified at a depth of between 0.05m and 1.2m below modern surface level. Ten of the test trenches targeted anomalies that had been identified from the results of a geophysical survey of the northern portion of the site. While evidence of agricultural activity was revealed in some of the excavated trenches, nothing of archaeological significance was encountered during the testing programme.
