A second phase of archaeological monitoring was undertaken at Cahermurphy Wind Farm, Co. Clare, between 25 July and 4 September 2024. The topography of the site is one of undulating upland blanket bog, and the principal land use in the area is commercial forestry plantation. The monitored works consisted of an access road from Turbine T2 to Turbine T3, and a turbine base and hardstand at Turbine T3. The peat was generally quite shallow (0.2-0.4m) along the route of the access road but was up to 2m deep at the site of the hardstand and turbine base. No archaeology was found. The first phase of monitoring for the Cahermurphy Wind Farm development took place in February-March 2019, when excavations for three wind turbines, access roads, a sub-station and borrow pit were subject to archaeological monitoring (2019:419).
