Archaeological Test Trenching as part of an Assessment  was carried out on a site proposed for the erection of a single dwelling and associated works at Greaghclogh, Mullagh, Co. Cavan, which was required as part of a Request for Further Information by the Planning Authority.

The closest Recorded Monument to the proposed development site is located immediately north of the road which forms the northern boundary of the site:

CV034-025---- : Ringfort - rath : FARTADREEN

There are numerous other Rath/Ringforts in the area.

Four Test Trenches were excavated by mechanical digger to the top of the subsoil. The general depth of the trenches was 0.3m. There was no topsoil, and the fill of the trenches was comprised of 80% stones in a clay matrix with no inclusions.

No material of an archaeological nature, finds or features, was disclosed by the testing.
