Archaeological test trenching was undertaken on 2 March 2024 on foot of a planning condition attached to planning permission for construction of a single-storey dwelling, detached garage, septic tank and percolation area, bored well, splayed entrance and all associated site development works
The site was in the same larger field as Ballyloughan Anglo-Norman Castle, Co. Carlow (RMP CW019-018).
Five linear trenches measuring 227m total in length were excavated within the footprint of the proposed development.
No features, finds or deposits of archaeological interest were uncovered, and no further archaeological works are recommended in relation to the proposed works here.
