Archaeological test trenching was completed in advance of the construction of a dwelling, driveway, stable block and associated services at Barker Road, Carrickduff, Bunclody, County Carlow.
A notification of decision to grant planning was given on 22/09/2023 by An Bord Pleanala subject to 18 conditions. Condition 6 (a-f) was for archaeological test trenching with report and to establish a buffer of 50m around Recorded Monument CW021-004- Enclosure which is within the subject site but will not be impacted upon by the proposed development.
The test trenching based on the results of a geophysical survey and proposed development plans was completed on 13 January 2024; no archaeological objects or features of archaeological significance were exposed in any of the seven test trenches.
