The archaeological watching brief was undertaken on 29 March and 15 April 2024, at 51a Seven Mile Straight, Co. Antrim.
The line of an early medieval rath ditch (ANT050:070) was indicated in the Programme of Works as encroaching within the site. Three test trenches that were fully excavated and the ditch was identified within Test Trenches 1 and 2.
As the rath would not be impacted upon by the development and was badly disturbed by previous modern activity, the location of the ditch was recorded, covered with geotextile, and the area backfilled.
Test Trench 3 contained no archaeological remains and was outside the area defined by the rath ditch.
