The test trenching was carried out between 6 and 8 March 2024. Eighteen test trenches were proposed within the development area. Thirteen test trenches (TT1 – TT13) were excavated as set out in the programme of works. Within these a large, still-active culvert on a north to south alignment, around 6m deep, was noted.
Due to areas of deep fill Test Trenches 14-18 were excavated as trail pits rather than full trenches. These demonstrated the deep cut and fill within their respective locations.
No remains of an archaeological interest were uncovered.
