Archaeological monitoring of excavations associated with the Tullabeg Solar Farm grid connection took place in March 2023. Commencing at the Tullabeg Substation (2022:185), the grid connection route extends north alongside an existing farm track for c. 200m, and then turns northwest across farmland for c. 300m before linking into the existing ESB line via two proposed new pylon towers. Several modern land drains, an old field boundary, and a stone shore were uncovered on the grid route. No features were uncovered on the sites of the eight base pads (dims. 3.6m²) for the new towers. No archaeology was found during monitoring.
