Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Killabeg, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford ahead of a solar farm development. The topsoil was found to measure 0.35m in average thickness and lay directly above the natural mid-grey, orange gravelly clay and stone. A number of field drains, including ones with stone and earthenware pipe, were identified throughout the area but no other features were exposed, and no finds or archaeological objects were recovered. The enclosure identified at the south end of the east field in the geophysical survey was avoided and the solar panels in this area constructed off ballast blocks.
The work is now complete and no further mitigation is necessary.
