Archaeological test trenching was carried out at Coolvin, Tang, Ballymahon, Co. Westmeath.
The assessment involved the excavation of eight test trenches, each measuring 1.8m in width, with a total of 123m of linear trenches excavated to a depth of between 0.3m and 0.51m. The test trenches were excavated down to the natural subsoil, which comprised an orange sandy clay and decayed stone. No archaeological features or deposits were identified within the excavated trenches and no artefacts were recovered. The work is now complete, and no further mitigation is necessary.
