Archaeological Test Excavation (and Archaeological Impact Assessment) of Single House Extension Development took place on 20 March.
Three test trenches were mechanically excavated. The natural underlying subsoil varied in depth from 0.2m to 0.35m beneath the ground surface. It was found to be shallower uphill to the north-east end of the trench and deeper at its south-west end. The subsoil was found to be truncated at three locations within the south-western portion of the trench. Some stone, wood and concrete was found in the south-west end, which were the demolition remains of a garage that previously stood on the location of the current driveway. A gas main duct and a sewerage duct cut across the line of the trench further to the northeast.
No archaeology was encountered.
