Archaeological monitoring of excavations associated with Phase 2 of the ‘Circle of Life Park’ at Athleague, Co. Roscommon, was carried out on 3 and 6 November 2023. The first phase of the development had taken place in May 2022 (2022:186). The Phase 2 works comprised the development of a new site entrance. The topsoil consisted of dark grey/brown silt with frequent modern inclusions. It overlay yellow/brown silty sand subsoil which was only occasionally exposed as the average depth of excavation rarely exceeded 0.2m. No archaeology was found during monitoring.
