Archaeological testing was undertaken in compliance with Condition 8 of a grant of planning permission which requested archaeological test trenching. There were no recorded monuments within the proposed development area, however a large enclosure (RMP RO040-027), classified as a hilltop enclosure, is in the immediate vicinity. In addition, a possible enclosure was identified within the application area by a 2017 archaeological assessment. At the time, an appropriate buffer exclusion zone was agreed with the relevant authorities.
Eleven trenches were excavated across the site, none contained features or deposits that can be classified as archaeological in nature.
