Test excavations took place as part of an assessment in advance of development at a small, elevated site in Kiltrustan townland. The site, on the slopes of Mullaghcreigha hill, was in proximity to the Recorded Monuments RO023-118001- (ecclesiastical enclosure), RO023-118 (church) of Mullaghcreigha to the west and RO023-119 (ringfort) to the east.
Three test trenches totalling 94 linear metres were excavated within the development site footprint and no finds, features or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during the course of testing.
