As the proposed development was in proximity to the area of archaeological notification around RO023-183—-, Roscommon County Council requested further information, in the form of pre-development archaeological testing conducted across the footprint of the site.
This work was carried out in August 2023 in the form of five machine-dug test trenches, spaced at 10m intervals across the site. Topsoil was on average 500mm depth, which overlay subsoil, a compact loam clay. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered in any of the test trenches examined.
