2023:892 - Harlockstown, Meath

Archaeological monitoring of excavations associated with the Harlockstown Solar Farm development was carried out in July-August, and November 2023. An archaeological impact assessment inclusive of geophysical survey and testing was undertaken by Mizen Archaeology in March 2023. The assessment identified nineteen archaeological features consisting of eight circular enclosures (four possible ringforts & four possible ring ditches) and eleven pits/post-holes/hearths. The enclosures and one of the pits were preserved in situ and the remaining pits, post-holes and hearths were preserved by record. All pre-development mitigation was implemented by Mizen Archaeology in the summer of 2023. No archaeology was found during monitoring.
