Archaeological testing was carried out in June 2023 at Duffsland (part of) Navan, County Meath, as part of a proposed future residential development project. Testing was carried out using a mechanical excavator fitted with a flat grading bucket. A total of six trenches were excavated across the site, measuring 580 linear meters. The site is a relatively flat pasture field with minor undulations throughout.

Topsoil consisted of a mid-brown silty clay with an average depth of 0.6m. Subsoil consisted of a light to mid-brown clayey silt with occasional to moderate stones present. Analysis of the baseline resources and a geophysical survey failed to identify any features of archaeological potential within the proposed development area. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified during the course of the assessment.
