Archaeological monitoring of remedial works was carried out at Rath Lugh, Lismullin, Co. Meath in May 2023. The site had undergone illegal modifications in the form of excavation of ramps, trails and pits by mountain bikers. The monument (RMP ME032-025; Ringfort) is subject to a Preservation Order (PO 1/2008) made under the National Monuments Acts 1930 to 2014. Consequently, remediation works were carried out under archaeological supervision following issue of Ministerial Consent C001181. Two bike trails, two ramps and a pit were recorded during archaeological monitoring within the PO area. No archaeological material was identified in the course of monitoring. No archaeological objects were recovered by metal detection. The remedial works have been completed and the land restored to its former condition.
