The replacement of a number of sections of concrete footpath located within Robeen graveyard (MA110-048002) was monitored in April, May and June 2023. The graveyard contains the remains of a medieval church (MA110-048001).
Only the existing footpaths, the modern fill below the footpaths and the topsoil on either side was removed. This area measured 0.75-1.5m wide and up to 0.25m deep. The depth of the fill and the topsoil was not exceeded. The fill consisted of loose rocks, soil and gravel. It contained plastic and one modern glass fragment. The topsoil contained plastic. Nothing of archaeological significance was in evidence.
Local knowledge dated the construction of the footpath which was bring removed to the 1980s or early 1990s.
