Archaeological Testing was required by the local planning authority for the construction of a dwelling house, relocation of existing site entrance, percolation area, horse stables, storage areas and exercise ring at Knockanour, Turlough, Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Given the size of the proposed development (over 1 hectare), licensed pre-development testing was required. Topsoil varied from 0.22–0.4m deep. The natural subsoil varied from an orange compacted stony subsoil with seams of a grey glacial till. Nothing of archaeological significance was found.
