A programme of archaeological test trenching was undertaken at No. 1 and No. 2, Creagh Road, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, on 03 October 2023. The proposed development crossed two existing property boundaries comprising two terraced houses and associated lands at the eastern end of Creagh Road. A preceding archaeological desk-based assessment (O’Flaherty 2023) identified 17 sites of archaeological, and/or cultural heritage significance within the study area for the report. This report also identified the proposed development site to be within the Zone of Notification for the Historic Town of Ballinrobe (RMP MA118-022). Following consultation with the County Archaeologist it was agreed that archaeological testing should be undertaken in order to determine the absence or presence of any archaeological deposits at the proposed development site.

In total three test trenches were excavated, totalling 54 linear meters No archaeological features and/or deposits were noted during the test-trenching.
