Heat-fractured stone in a sandy clay matrix with orange staining came to light during monitoring of ground works associated with the Charlestown River Walk. This material was seen in each section face following the mechanical excavation of a land drain. It was located just south of a large D-shaped enclosure (MAO63-005), with a burnt spread (MAO63-065) designated 30m to the east. The area in general is low lying and adjacent to the Mullaghanoe River. Currently, however, it is not possible to verify if this material represents a new site or is part of the burnt spread already identified at the east.
