Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Carrickedmond, Kilcurly, Dundalk, Co. Louth. The site is occupied by an existing dwelling, with access from the L3104 road to Forkill. The area monitored is located at the rear of that dwelling. The proposed development footprint was first stripped of sod, and subsequently, the excavation of foundation trenches was archaeologically monitored. The foundation trenches measured between 1.05m and 1.2m in width and were excavated to a depth of between 0.8m and 1.05m. The topsoil removed measured between 0.1m to 0.15m. Gravel, made ground with disused services were recorded. The natural was yellowish-brown sandy clay.
No features of archaeological significance were recorded, and no finds were retrieved.
