Archaeological test trenching was carried out at Richard Taaffe's Holding, Louth Village, Dundalk, Co. Louth. Monitoring was carried out between 19–22 December 2023. A total of two tracked excavators and two dumper trucks were used to strip the sod and topsoil. The sod and topsoil consisted of a mid-brown – grey gravelly loam measuring between 0.3–0.6m in depth and lay directly above the natural light brown sandy clay, gravel and stone. No finds or features of archaeological significance were exposed or identified.
The work is now complete. No further mitigation is required.
