Archaeological monitoring was carried out in November 2023 at New Line Carpark, New Line, Manorhamilton, for the proposed instalment of electric vehicle charger points. A trial hole that measured 1m in length by 0.4m in width by 1m in depth was initially excavated to look for services. A slot trench was subsequently excavated; it measured c. 11m in length by 0.4-0.5m in width by 0.7-0.78m in depth. The topsoil was found to measure 0.22m in depth and lay directly above made-up ground (C3) which consisted of stone, brown clay, and gravel. The natural subsoil (C2) was a
brown peat. A wastewater pipe was located at the southern end of the slot trench and an existing north-to-south concrete footpath was found covered with topsoil running the length of the trench. No archaeological features or deposits were exposed, and no finds were recovered from the upcast spoil. The assessment is now complete and no further work is recommended.
