A programme of archaeological test trenching was undertaken at Newhall, Naas, Co. Kildare on 3 March 2023. The site was located to the west of Naas town centre, bounded to the southwest and northwest by industrial and commercial premises and to the south and east by the M7 and the Newbridge Road.
A geophysical survey undertaken in February 2023 identified a series of anomalies of possible archaeological significance. Test trenching was undertaken to establish the veracity of the results and to assess the potential for subsurface archaeological remains.
The test trenching comprised the excavation of thirteen trenches with a total length of 550 linear metres. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified during test trenching.
