A programme of archaeological test trenching was carried out at a site in Castlereban South townland, Co. Kildare. The site is located in an archaeologically-rich landscape, with a number of prehistoric and medieval archaeological monuments located in close proximity. In particular, the presence of a ring-ditch located under what is now the Castlemitchell GAA club, indicated a high potential for subsurface archaeological remains. Five test trenches revealed no evidence of surviving archaeological remains.
