The development site was located within the Zone of Notification (ZoN) of a Fortified House (and former Tower House) (KD014-045/-045001; Protected Structures B14-14), the remains of which are contained within the north-eastern college buildings.
Three test trenches were excavated (03 July and 10–11 July 2023), uncovering a yard surface, swimming pool and wall foundations for both the pool and associated building. The main development appears to lie over earlier garden areas (Trenches 1 and 2), and a former swimming pool (Trench 3).
Archaeological monitoring was recommended during construction/foundation excavation due to the proximity of known archaeology.
No artefacts were found during the test excavations.
