The test excavations at Dromatoor, Ballyheige, Co. Kerry relate to a proposed glamping site was undertaken in August 2023. The northern limits of the proposed glamping site extend within the zone of notification of a recorded levelled enclosure KE014-056 and associated souterrain KE014-056001. A series of seven test trenches (T1-T7) was opened within proposed site. A total trenching length of c.240m was excavated with an 8-tonne track machine utilising a 1.8m-wide flat grading bucket under archaeological supervision. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted during the testing and no artefacts were recovered.
