The development site is located within the Zone of Notification of GA970-012—, an enclosure. A previous Archaeological Impact Assessment undertaken by the writer in 2020 recorded that, although this monument was levelled in antiquity, examination in 1994 by the Archaeological Survey of Ireland recorded a fosse and that the monument bisected by a field boundary running north-east/south-west. In the past 10 years
the field boundary has been removed with ground disturbance in the east half of the monument. Field examination recorded this area as uneven ground and no surface trace of the fosse of the enclosure visible.

The archaeological pre-development testing revealed features associated with the enclosure. The fosse in the north of the enclosure was revealed in Trenches C and D. In Trench C it was revealed for a length of 3.1m and excavated for a depth of 0.6m. In Trench B a number of fragments of cremated human bone were retrieved while troweling back the trench. The bone was examined by osteo-archaeologist Glenn Gibney and identified as burnt human bone. The bone is presently awaiting dating with Chronolab, Belfast.
