Archaeological monitoring took place at the site of 16-19 Dominick Street Lower, Rotunda, Dublin 1 for the construction of a new primary school. The full archaeological excavation of the site took place from 31/07/2023 to 31/10/2023. The remains of the former eighteenth-century basements at Nos 16-19, their rear yards, gardens and mews buildings, were fully exposed and recorded. No evidence for pre-eighteenth-century occupation was identified. The results of the excavation are directly comparable to those of the adjacent site, 19E0008. A large amount of 18th, 19th and 20th-century objects were recovered from the excavation, including pottery, clay pipe, glass, leather, metal, tile, cut stone and animal bone. Environmental samples were also taken for analysis.
