Additional test excavations were undertaken at Corballis, Donabate, Co. Dublin in September 2023. The proposed development site was subject to an Archaeological Impact Assessment 2017 (see Excavations 2017:646). One of the identified archaeological sites (Corballis 6; Enclosure & Souterrain) is preserved in situ with a 10m buffer zone. The object of the current test excavations was to identify any additional buried archaeological material adjacent to the outer edge of the buffer zone and to test geophysical anomalies identified through GPR survey and possibly associated with souterrain DU012-135. No new archaeological features, layers, sites or objects were recorded.
